Sixth Form Tutor Programme
Our tutorial programme is one of the most important ways in which we develop the culture and ethos within the Sixth Form.
From bridging tasks to help students make the transition between Year 11 and Sixth Form, to careers advice and extra curriculum to help them decide on future aspirations. Time spent with tutors is a way of embedding key messages as well as developing the relationships between staff and students that are so essential at this stage.
Our experienced team of tutors is the first point of contact and support during a student’s time in Sixth Form. Students follow a comprehensive tutorial programme delivered to cross-curricular tutor groups each morning in ‘form time’. Form time activities will include:
• Transition programme, bridging the gap from GCSE to Sixth Form
• Study skills, with a focus on independent learning
• Careers education, information, advice and guidance
• VESPA (Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice, Attitude)
• PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, Economic)
• Developing self-confidence, team-building and leadership skills
• Mentoring within Sixth Form and lower down the school
• Post-18 pathways
