Dear Parents and Carers

As we approach the new year, we wish to share with you an important update regarding our school’s Behaviour Policy, which will come into effect in January 2025. We remain committed to ensuring that every child at Campion School is given the opportunity to succeed. In line with our mission to progress from ‘good’ to great we are introducing some changes that will help us to sharpen up our approach to behaviour management, fostering an environment of excellence for all through our ‘Campion Way’.

Our ‘Campion Way’ is as follows:

We show respect to all adults and students

•      We follow all instructions at the first time of asking as this is a sign of respect

•      We respect our environment. We make sure all litter goes into the bin and we respect all facilities

•      We respect our uniform and are proud to be Campion

•      We show respect by listening carefully, giving people our full attention

•      We show integrity by being truthful at all times. We apologise when we are wrong

•      We show resilience at all times and never give up, even when it is hard

•      We show ambition by having high expectations of ourselves and others

Our core belief is that every child has the right to disruption-free learning. To achieve this, we have reviewed our current policy and identified areas for improvement. Please find attached a copy of our new Behaviour Policy. The main change to our Policy is the introduction of a new behaviour structure that will replace our existing removal from lesson process. From January, we will operate a simple system of ‘Warn’, ‘Remove’ within all lessons if the expectations outlined in our ‘Campion Way’ are not being met. If a student is removed from a lesson they will be sent to the Remove Room. This update is designed to support all students in maintaining focus and engagement, while ensuring that any behavioural issues are addressed promptly and effectively so they do not disrupt the teaching and learning environment.

For serious or persistent breaches of our behaviour policy students will be isolated from the rest of the school in our Internal Reflection Room (previously internal isolation).

It is important to note that the Remove Room and the Internal Reflection Room are not new sanctions but rather new permanent locations where students can reflect on their actions in a calm, structured setting. This change ensures that all students have the opportunity to re- engage with their learning while learning from any mistakes, ultimately contributing to a more positive school environment.

Based on your valuable feedback, we have decided to remove lunchtime detentions and replace them with 20-minute break time detentions. This change ensures that all students have enough time during lunch to eat and attend to personal needs, such as using the toilet, without feeling rushed.

We want to emphasise that 99% of our students get it right every day. However, to move from

‘good to great,’ we believe we can raise expectations and further improve our systems to ensure that all students thrive. We have listened to both the student voice and the parent voice, and your feedback has been invaluable in shaping these changes.

We are confident that these updates to our Behaviour Policy will support our ongoing goal to ensure that every child at Campion School has the best possible chance to succeed in a supportive and productive learning environment.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to make Campion School a place where every student can achieve their full potential.

Yours sincerely
