CPN-header-New

14th February 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the half-term draws to a close it is a chance to reflect on all the great things that have happened at Campion this term and for us to look forward to the next half-term. It’s been a period of hard work, focus, and dedication, and we are proud to share some of the highlights with you.

We want to start by congratulating our Year 13 students, who have just completed their mock exams. We were thoroughly impressed with the excellent conduct and attendance demonstrated by our students throughout this challenging period. Their professionalism and commitment to their studies this week will undoubtedly support their success as they prepare for their final exams.

Our Year 11 students also had a fantastic opportunity to engage in focused intervention sessions during our recent ‘Grab a Grade’ day. This event provided targeted support for students working on their coursework subjects, helping them to improve their previous work and make meaningful progress toward securing their best possible grades. It was wonderful to see the commitment from all involved, and we are excited about the progress they are making this year.

Across all year groups, we’ve enjoyed celebrating the success of our students through the

‘Proud Table’ this half term. Students from all year groups visited to showcase their achievements, and we loved sharing these moments with them. It’s a reminder of the incredible talent and hard work within our school community.

n addition to academic achievements, we have also seen fantastic success in sports. Our under 12 and under 13 girls' football teams have both made it through to the District Finals – a huge accomplishment! Furthermore, our under 16 boys' football team is through to the County Cup quarter final, and the under 15 boys' football team has also secured their place in the County Cup semi-final. We’re equally excited to share that our under 13 girls’ rugby team proudly wore their new kit in the Rugby Festival at the Saints, representing the school with pride.

We hope you are as proud of these accomplishments as we are. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support you provide to your children, which plays such an important role in their successes.

I would also like to take this opportunity to share some important reminders for students returning on Monday, 24th February. These updates are designed to ensure a safe, positive learning environment and an excellent overall experience for all students at Campion School.

Site Safety Before and After School Supervision

Before School:

Student safety and wellbeing remain our top priority. To ensure effective supervision, the front gates will not open until 8:00 am each morning. The pedestrian gate from Bugbrooke village will open at 8:20 am, allowing students sufficient time to arrive before the morning bell. All other entry points to the school will remain closed.

Upon arrival, students will be welcomed by staff and are expected to stay in the quad area, the Library or the main school canteen, where staff will be on duty. Free porridge is available for all students from 8:00 am in the canteen, with a small charge for additional toppings. https://www.campionschool.org.uk/40/school-news/article/726/free-bowl-of-porridge

Breakfast items are also available for purchase. Students should remain in these designated areas until the school bell rings at 8:35 am, at which point they will move to their morning line- up with their Form Tutors and Heads of Year.

After School:

Students who take later buses or are collected after 3:15pm must go to the canteen, where they will be supervised until their bus arrives or they are collected. To further ensure their safety, we ask that they remain in the canteen and do not leave this area unless given permission by the supervising staff member. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child remains on site until their transport arrives.

Mobile Phones

Thank you for your feedback regarding mobile phone use during the school day. We remain a no-phone school during school hours, in line with DfE guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/mobile-phones-in-schools

However, we recognise the need for students to contact you regarding collection arrangements, especially if after-school clubs are cancelled. Therefore, students will now be permitted to use their phones in the school canteen from 3:15 pm until they leave the site. This allows them to communicate with you if necessary. For safeguarding reasons, students must not use their mobile phones for filming or inappropriate social media use during this time.

If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the school reception on

01604 833900, and we will pass on any messages. Students can also contact home at any time during the day, but they must approach an adult in the school for permission to use their phone.

Character Caught Rewards

We are excited to introduce our ‘Character Caught Challenge’ next half-term. Staff will be actively recognising students who demonstrate our school values of Ambition, Respect, Resilience, and Integrity. When a student is ‘caught’ displaying these values, they will receive a Character Caught postcard.

We encourage students to bring their reward cards home so you can celebrate their successes. Students must also post their cards in their year group reward boxes in the Main Hall for a chance to win prizes. Each week, we will draw winners for canteen queue jump passes and £10

Amazon vouchers. At the end of the term, we will hold a special draw to award exciting prizes to our half-term Character Caught Champions.

Behaviour Policy

We expect all students to embody the values of Ambition, Respect, Resilience, and Integrity in their behaviour. Our updated behaviour policy ensures classrooms remain disruption-free, allowing all students to learn in a safe and productive environment. Every child at this school deserves disruption free learning.

To reinforce the importance of meeting classroom expectations, any student sent to the Remove Room will now also serve a social time detention. This measure emphasises the impact of their behaviour while allowing them to leave school on time, minimising disruption to you.

If a student is removed:

●    During lesson 1 – they will spend lessons 1 and 2, plus break, in the Remove Room.

●    During lesson 2 – they will remain in the Remove Room for lessons 2 and 3, plus break.

●    During lesson 3 – they will stay for lessons 3 and 4, plus lunch.

●    During lesson 4 – they will remain for lessons 4 and 5, plus lunch.

●    During lesson 5 – they will stay for lesson 5 and return to the Remove Room for lesson 1 and break the following day.

Uniform Expectations

Uniform standards are an important aspect of our school culture, reflecting respect, integrity, and professionalism. We have noticed a decline in uniform adherence and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of our policy.

Students must wear their uniform correctly at all times, which includes:

●    A tucked-in shirt, tie, and blazer

●    Black smart shoes

●    A black knee-length skirt or trousers

Jewellery is limited to one plain stud in each ear, with no additional visible piercings, bracelets, or necklaces. Nose piercings, false nails, and painted nails are not permitted.

If a student is not in the correct uniform, we will support them in addressing the issue:

●    Students can borrow uniform items from our stock. In return, they will leave either their mobile phone or trainers (if shoes are the issue) with a staff member, to be returned when they return the borrowed item(s).

●    If borrowing is not possible, we will contact parents/carers to see if they can bring in the correct uniform or arrange for the student to return home briefly to change.

●    If all options are exhausted, the student will be placed in the Internal Reflection Room until the uniform issue is resolved.

We want all students in the correct uniform, in lessons learning, if at all possible.

The upcoming half-term holiday is a great time to ensure all uniform items are in place. Further information on purchasing uniform items can be found on our website: https://www.campionschool.org.uk/153/school-uniform.

If your family is experiencing difficulties in purchasing uniform, please contact us – we are always here to help and support our community.

Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration as we continue to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, 24th February.

Please do remember and ask your child if they have had any Character caught postcards in the first week back and please do always contact the school if you have any issues you need resolved. I want us to continue to work together in partnership to ensure your child thrives at Campion School.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable half-term break. Yours sincerely,

Mrs K Bradley Smith
