Parent Update
20th December 2024
Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the end of the term I would like to thank everyone for their support. We have seen excellent progress on attendance figures across the school, positive behaviours and progress in end of term and mock assessments.
Well done to year 11 and 13 for attending an incredible number of hours after school completing revision sessions and completing thousands of hours of online revision through Sparx and Uplearn and other learning platforms. This commitment is, and will continue to make a difference in outcomes.
Year 13 have been incredibly focused on applying for degree level apprenticeships and submitting UCAS applications for a variety of university courses. Where students have applied to Oxbridge or other disciplines including medicine, veterinary or dentistry they are now receiving invitations for interview. Good luck to everyone and we thank the staff supporting personal statements and UCAS applications.
At this time of year we say farewell to a small number of staff. Mrs Brown, Attendance Officer has worked with our families over a considerable number of years. Mrs Hawkins, our food technician who has supported all year groups and invested an incredible amount of time supporting our students to achieve their best grades in their coursework for GCSE food. Mrs Jennings, Assistant SENDCo leaves to take up a significant position working at West Northants Council supporting SEND students across the County. Thank you to Mrs Jennings for the significance difference you have made to a number of our children. Mr Boland, PE Teacher, is travelling the world (or at least part of it!), hopefully we will welcome him back to Campion in the future. Mr Brady, History Teacher, leaves to take up a promoted position in another school.
Mrs Elliott, Science Teacher, thank you for the super Science lessons. Miss Bliss, LSA, leaves to take up a teaching post. We wish you all the very best for the future and thank you.
In the new term we welcome back Mrs Etheridge joining the LSA Team. New to the school Mr Patel, Senior Assistant Headteacher for Pastoral Care, Mr Nawaz, Teacher of Science, Mr Thurland, Teacher of PE and Miss Baucutt, Attendance Improvement Administrator.
The lead up to Christmas has been a wonderful time for staff and students. We launched for the first time our Proud Table. All students were invited to share a piece of work that they were incredibly proud of. This will be repeated in February and throughout the year with the opportunity of a student winning an i-Pad. It was wonderful to see the hundreds of students participating in this and being very proud of the work they had produced in class.
This week there have been Rewards Assemblies for all year groups which have been incredibly positive and a wonderful way to end the term. Separate special events for the top 20 students in each year group achieving the most amount of achievement points have also occurred; films and popcorn!
I was especially proud of our orchestra and choirs with all year groups being represented at
Bugbrooke Church. Beautiful performance of carols by candlelight.
Post 16 haven’t missed out despite their mocks. They went on a Rewards Trip to Birmingham. By the number of shopping bags they returned with, Birmingham certainly got an economic uplift on that day!
Thank you to you all for the huge contributions to the Christmas Hampers which have now been delivered and gratefully received by charitable organisations and families.
Once again thank you to all of you for your support and on behalf of all the staff and the
Governing Body we wish you and your families a good break and a happy new year. Yours sincerely
Ms P Hammond
Headteacher
